手指衛生キャンペーンが手指衛生材料調達量に与える影響と、手指衛生材料調達量のＭＲＳＡ/ＭＳＳＡ菌血症およびクロストリジウム・ディフィシル感染症との関係について調査している。調査はイングランドとウェールズにおける計187の急性期トラストを対象として、2004年7月～2008年6月に実施した。手指衛生キャンペーンにより手指衛生材料の調達量は増加した。石けんの調達量増加はクロストリジウム・ディフィシル感染症の、擦式アルコール消毒剤の調達量増加はMRSA菌血症の減少と関連していた。
